Deeside Parkway station proposal targets cross-border links

The Welsh Government says a proposed Deeside Parkway station would strengthen links between north-east Wales, Deeside Industrial Estate and Liverpool.

It says the scheme is one of seven stations being taken forward in Wales and is part of a £14 billion rail plan supported by the Welsh and UK governments.

The government says the station would improve access to employment and education centres, the Port of Liverpool and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, while supporting cross-border commuting and providing an alternative to car travel.

It says completion in 2027 is a possibility, but describes that timetable as ambitious.
