Elfyn Evans joins British Rally Championship contenders at Grampian Forest Rally
Motorsport UK says the Welsh World Rally Championship leader will enter the Aberdeenshire event as the British title race resumes on 7 and 8 August.
Elfyn Evans will join the British Rally Championship field at this weekend's Voyl Grampian Forest Rally in Aberdeenshire, Motorsport UK says.
The Welsh driver, who Motorsport UK identifies as the current FIA World Rally Championship leader, is due to compete with co-driver Scott Martin in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. The event is his first competitive outing in Scotland for six years, according to the organisation.
The British championship resumes after its summer break with 57 competitive miles across 10 stages. Motorsport UK says Osian Pryce, Max McRae, Meirion Evans and Garry Pearson are contesting the title after the opening two rounds.
The Grampian event is also the official FIA candidate event before Rally Scotland is scheduled to return to the World Rally Championship in 2027. Motorsport UK says several international crews will use it to prepare for that event.
What this means for Wales
Evans' entry gives Welsh rally followers a direct connection to a British championship round featuring World Rally Championship competitors. The event takes place in Scotland, and Motorsport UK has not announced a Welsh round in this release.
