Welsh road safety plan adopts Vision Zero and calls for delivery measures

Welsh Government has launched its Road Safety Partnership Plan for Wales, setting out governance, aims and priorities for reducing road-related harm. The statement says the plan has a headline ambition to significantly lower the number of people killed or seriously injured on Welsh roads.

What the plan says

The approach is based on the Safe System model, which seeks to reduce risk across the road environment, vehicles, speeds and road-user behaviour. Welsh Government says it is working towards Vision Zero: no loss of life or serious injury on the roads.

Instead, it says Welsh Government and its partners should follow with a detailed plan containing concrete actions and safety performance indicators.
